An anchor project of Selwyn District Council’s Long-Term Plan, Te Ara Ātea is a new 2600 sq mt library and community centre in Rolleston Town Centre.
A place for learning, gathering, connecting and exploring the new $22.2 million centre was designed by Christchurch architecture firm Warren and Mahoney. Inovo Projects Ltd were the project managers and TMCo was the engineering team.
The two-story Te Ara Ātea centre features a mixed media library, performance and art exhibition space, a museum display, studio and workshop space, and a community lounge with a fireplace and cafe.
Project HVAC supplied central ventilation and air conditioning plants to the project and was required to ensure they were highly energy-efficient and compact enough for a limited space plant room.
The optimal solution was two Clivet thermal wheel heat recovery Air Handling Units (AHU's) each with the matching Clivet inverter compressor condensing unit.
This ensured low-cost demand-driven space ventilation, heating, air conditioning and room humidity control using the central ventilation and air conditioning plant.
The challenge for Project HVAC was limited plant room space and achieving superior efficiency while keeping the price per unit attractive. The Clivet built-to-order AHU with DX coils and inverter condensers proved just the ticket.
Offering superior performance and reliability without a huge outlay and operational costs. All backed up by the expertise of Clivet trained Project HVAC technical team.
